Dallas Auto detailing
When the Mini Cooper came in to our Fort Worth car detailing shop, it was overdue for an appointment with the auto hygienist. I definitely had my work cut out for me detailing this little sports car.
I got all of the loose items out of the car and boxed them up, then headed to the wash bay. I pulled in and fired up the pressure washer. I popped the hood and went to work cleaning the car’s frame and then washed from roof to wheels. after a hand wash and a fiber free towel wipe down, I headed to the detail shop.
The rear lid of most hatch back vehicles consitentlty accumulates a lot dirt, rust of grime and sustains abuse from loading and unloading. This added abuse means that there is a need for additional attention when detailing.
Once I had her parked in the detail shop, I popped the hood again and immediately went to work on the canisters, all rails, the bottom of the hood and every square inch of the engine. Then, I used a flashlight to make sure there were no more dirty areas under the hood or behind the bumper.
The engine compartment is obviously one of the worst soiled areas of your vehicle meaning we take special care with our hygienist tools to ensure it has that show room level of cleanliness.
From there, I moved to detailing the car interior and used just about every brush I had to get every crevice of the dash and the seats. I pulled the ashtray out and cleaned out from behind it and the canister itself. after vacuuming the seats, floormats, door pockets, and carpets I went to work making the door jambs look like the did when the Mini was new. The hinges were very greasy and took a little more time than I expected.
The trunk needed vacuuming inside and some TLC to make it look sharp. On the outside, I used a buffer on low speed to restore the shine to the Mini’s paint and prepare the car for a hand wax with fine carnauba wax! Now, that’s a car that will turn heads!
The gas filler lid is an area most detail shops only clean on the outside. We take it a step further and restore it to that new car clean.
After cleaning the glass, polishing the mirrors, and removing all the lint from the soft top with a lint brush, it was time to dress the tires with a special high-gloss tire treatment and make them like new again.
I gave the white glove treatment to the gas filler compartment, the most overlooked detail spot of all. After shining the inside and the gas filler door, it looked like it did before the Mini’s odometer clicked off its first mile.
